Pamela Ellis, Fellow and Life Member B.A.T.D.

Pamela is Fellow of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D). In June 2001, Pamela was presented with her Life Membership whilst at the B.A.T.D. Congress in Glasgow, Scotland. Pamela has been teaching dance for 28 years in Europe and North America. She served as the Secretary of the B.A.T.D. for Eastern Ontario, Canada from 1998 until June 2002.. She formed her first dance school in Scotland at the age of 16 and within 4 years had over 180 students, one of whom was selected to star in 'Annie', in London's West End. Pamela was one of the first dance instructors in Canada to gain formal B.A.T.D. Instructors-level qualifications in Hip Hop in June 2001. As of June 2004, Pamela has her B.A.T.D. Fellowship in Stage (Tap and Modern) and Membership in: Jazz; Majorette; and Hip Hop.

Pamela taught in several locations as she moved internationally with her husband's job, and finally settled in Manotick, Ontario, where she and her family have lived for the past 10 years.

In 1995, Pamela started teaching dance in Manotick, and over the next 3 years her numbers grew. In 1998, she asked Koryn MacArthur to join her and together they formed Piqué Dance Studio International.

Koryn MacArthur, Member B.A.T.D.

Koryn is a Fellow of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D). Koryn completed her Fine Arts in Dance in 1990 and continued with an undergraduate degree the following year. While pursuing her degree in Recreation at the University of Ottawa, she created the "dance program" which currently exists. She was the Director of the Ottawa Dance Team for over ten years. The team won numerous awards in Canada and the United States. Her team of dancers performed at the Buena Vista Palace in Walt Disney World where they were awarded the title of Runner-Up National Dance Champions. Koryn became a member of the B.A.T.D. in 1999 with a Membership level exam in Stage. Koryn was also one of the first instructors in Canada to to gain B.A.T.D. teacher's qualifications in Hip Hop in June 2001. Koryn successfully passed her Fellowship examination in Stage in November 2003. Koryn served as secretary of the B.A.T.D. for Eastern Ontario, Canada from June 2002 through September 2003

Koryn has received several choreography awards and was awarded a "Best Choreography" award by Dance America. She is currently in demand as a guest teacher and is well known for her innovative "Hip Hop" style. Koryn has been teaching children dance for fifteen years. She derives most of her pleasure from seeing the progression and improvement in dancers over time.

As a four year veteran of the Ottawa Rough Rider Sun Girls, Koryn has performed all over Canada and the United States, including performances at numerous Grey Cup shows. Koryn has choreographed and danced in the DND (Department of National Defence) CanCon Show Tours for Canadian, American and British Military personnel in Bosnia. In addition, she has performed in numerous television shows on various networks and danced in show tours for the Casino de Hull.

As of June 2004, Koryn has her B.A.T.D. Fellowship in Stage (Tap and Modern) and Membership in Jazz and Hip Hop.
